Local man arrested for shooting in Newark
NEWARK (WJER) (Sept. 21, 2023) – A New Philadelphia man is charged with attempted murder for a shooting in Licking County that left two people wounded.
32-year-old Ryan Authement is being held in the jail there on a $500,000 bond following his arrest at a home in the 500 block of Fair Avenue NW Tuesday morning. He and two Lancaster men were wanted in connection with the September 11th shooting in an alley in Newark during which both victims suffered a single gunshot wound.
Newark Police say 34-year-old Eric Hurtz was taken into custody in his hometown the same day as Authement.
Detectives this afternoon were still looking for the third suspect, 28-year-old Kyle Mathes. They’ve been asking anyone with information on the shooting or Mathes’ whereabouts to call the Newark Police Station at 740-670-7215 or Licking County Crime Stoppers at 740-349-6888.
