Philharmonic Children’s Chorus presents free concert
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 26, 2024) – The Tuscarawas Philharmonic Children’s Chorus will present a free concert Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in New Philadelphia.
Conductor Laura Barkett says children ages 7 to 14 from across the region have enjoyed a busy semester leading up to this season-closing concert.
“We’re not just stuffy orchestra music as many people might perhaps think or assume about us. We sing a lot of fun music and a even some modern music as well,” she said. “We perform throughout the community. Sometimes we’ll perform in nursing homes, sometimes with the orchestra.”
The Sunday performance will feature guest artist Josh Compton. The Dover teacher recently released an album of songs about Tuscarawas County.
