Man bites cop, authorities pursue felony assault charge in Dover

Jason Holt (Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office)

DOVER (WJER) (July 12, 2024) – Police say a 46-year-old man is facing a felony charge after biting an officer Thursday.

Jason Holt was in the Tuscarawas County Jail Friday morning awaiting formal charges.

Dover Police Chief Paul Bantum says police responded to a trespassing complaint on North Walnut Street around 1 p.m. Thursday.

He says when officers tried to remove Holt from the property, he bit one of them on the arm, drawing blood. As a precaution, the officer will have to get immunized against diseases, including hepatitis.

Bantum says Holt will be charged with felony assault of a police officer and other offenses.
