MINERAL CITY (WJER) (There’s more family-friendly fun still in store at the Atwood Area Fall Festival.

Organizing Committee member Daryl Smith says it continues through 5 pm Sunday at Atwood Lake Park with nearly 150 craft and food vendors, a kids’ pumpkin decorating contest Saturday/today from 11:30 to noon, and a couple of returning favorites on the entertainment schedule.

“We did bring back Ken Groves. He’s a ventriloquist from North Canton. Very popular down here. He and Mike Bishop [comedy/hypnosis] will be doing shows Saturday and Sunday. We have kids’ bouncy houses down here. We’ve got a new petting zoo.”

The festival goes until 9 o’clock tonight, reopening Saturday from 10 to 9 and Sunday from 10 to 5. Weekend highlights include a Sunday car show with registration from 8 to 1 and Native American dancing demonstrations.

“And on the way in, on the entry road from the main gate, we have the antique engines, mountain man encampment, the Ohio wagon train. On Sunday, the car show will be out there, which promises to be huge.”

There’s a $5 admission fee that Smith says goes to area churches, volunteer fire departments, and other charitable causes. Kids 11 and under get in for free.
