Organizations to ‘Take Back the Night’ against sexual assaults

| April 24, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 24, 2025) – Community members are set to unite this evening as part of a national movement that promotes healing for victims of sexual violence while advocating for change.

Compass Rape Crisis Center community engagement coordinator Erin Stewart says the local ceremony for the “Take Back the Night” initiative starts at 7 p.m. this evening at the Tuscarawas County Courthouse square.

Stewart says attendees will hear one survivor’s story. There will also be materials to make signs.

Tonight’s event will include a short program and a walk for participants to show their support for victims while calling for an end to sexual violence.

The Noah’s Hope Child Advocacy Center, the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s Office, and Harbor House are co-hosting the free event. Light food and drinks will be served.
