MWCD to unveil new Trails Master Plan, Atwood’s Storybook Trail

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 16, 2025) – The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is about to share a new long-term vision for trails at its parks and lakes.
Spokeswoman Adria Bergeron says district officials will be unveiling the MWCD Trails Master Plan during a presentation Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Atwood Lake Park event center. She says the plan calls for designing and building nearly 300 miles of interconnected trails across MWCD lands over the next 20 years.
Then at 2 p.m., there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Atwood’s new Storybook Trail, where users can read different pages of a given book on display along the path.
Bergeron says the MWCD will post the new Trails Master Plan on its website following Saturday’s event.
