The event

The 2025 Veterans Day service, honoring all of America’s veterans who honorably served in the Unites States Armed Forces, will be held on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11th, beginning at 11:00 AM, on Court House Square in downtown New Philadelphia. The service will include performances by New Philadelphia’s wonderful and talented student musicians and vocalists. The program will close with the traditional rendering of Volleys and Taps, with New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 Military Honors Team rendering the volleys and buglers for the NPHS Marching Quaker Band sounding Taps.

The guest speaker for the 2025 Veterans Day service is Jason E. Thornton. Jason is veteran of the United States Marine Corp, retiring after 20 years of service as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He is a veteran of the Iraq War. Jason has continued his service to our country by continuing to serve and support his fellow veterans as a Tuscarawas County Veterans Service Officer. He was recently named to become the new Director of the Tuscarawas County Veterans Service Office when the current director, Debra Cook, retires in January. In his free time, Jason helps local veterans through Combat Warrior Outdoors, a charity he founded to help veterans deal with their physical and mental wellbeing, by immersing them in outdoor wilderness activities. Jason grew up in Gnadenhutten and is a 1993 graduate of Indian Valley High School. Since his retirement from the Marine Corps, Jason and his wife Sabrina have resided in Tuscarawas.

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved indoors to the VFW Banquet Hall located at VFW Post 1445, 441 Park Avenue NW, New Philadelphia. A decision to move the service will be made by 9AM on Veterans Day.

Following the service, the public is invited to the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 Canteen for the traditional Ham and Bean Soup Luncheon! All are welcome to attend.
