Man charged with OVI for fifth time; Woman facing sixth OVI conviction
NEW PHILADELPHLIA – A pair of habitual drunk driving offenders from New Philadelphia were recently charged again.
The State Highway Patrol says 33-year-old Michael W. Kerhin of New Philadelphia was arrested on August 13th in Goshen Township for OVI and other charges after flipping the 2012 Chrysler 200 sedan he was driving on US 250. It’s his fifth OVI charge with three prior convictions including a felony. A press release says the charges are being reviewed by the Tuscarawas County Grand Jury.
Meanwhile, last week, the Grand Jury indicted 40-year-old Amy Baker of New Philadelphia for felony OVI among 8 counts. Court records say Baker had five prior OVI convictions between 2007 and 2023. Last week’s indictment also charges Baker with two more felonies – assaulting a first responder and illegally conveying drugs onto a government facility. She posted a $5,000 bond on Friday.
