After attempted murder conviction, man charged with retaliation against victim
NEW PHILADELPHIA – A Tuscarawas County man will spend at least 20 years in prison for the attempted murder of an ex-girlfriend and faces a new trial on charges he retaliated against a victim after a jury found him guilty in November.
Judge Michael Ernest on on Dec. 22 sentenced 44-year-old Carl Reynolds to a total of 20 to 25 ½ years in prison on five counts, including attempted aggravated murder with a firearm specification.
Authorities say Reynolds stalked the victim and shot her in the head through the vehicle’s windshield. However, she was able to escape and drive herself to the Uhrichsville Police Station.
Reynolds pleaded not guilty, but a jury took less than two hours to convict him after a week-long trial in November.
Court records show Reynolds has been indicted again, this time on felony counts of retaliation and violating a protection order. Reynolds pleaded not guilty and was in the Tuscarawas County Jail.
