Three injured in two-vehicle crash on SR 800 in Tuscarawas County

| January 22, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 22, 2026)  — Three people were transported to area hospitals following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on State Route 800 south of Stillwater, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11 a.m. when a northbound Chevy TrailBlazer traveled left of center and struck a southbound Buick Regal, troopers said. Both vehicles went off the west side of the roadway after impact, and the SUV overturned onto its side.

A passenger in the TrailBlazer was ejected from the vehicle, while the driver became trapped and had to be extricated by emergency crews. State trooper Roy Beach said the extent of the injuries was not immediately known.

The TrailBlazer was driven by a 52-year-old Uhrichsville woman, who is expected to be cited for failure to control. She and her passenger, a 33-year-old woman also from Uhrichsville, will additionally be ticketed for not wearing seat belts. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital in Canton for treatment.

Beach said the SUV driver was traveling at an unsafe speed given the slick, partially snow-covered road conditions.

The driver of the Buick, a 75-year-old woman from Tippecanoe, was transported to Union Hospital.

State Route 800 was shut down in both directions as crews worked the scene for nearly two and a half hours. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
