Firefighters Free Man Pinned by Fallen Tree in Sugarcreek Township
SUGARCREEK TOWNSHIP (WJER) (March 20, 2026) — A 77‑year‑old man escaped serious injury Thursday afternoon after a tree he was cutting rolled onto his legs and trapped him, according to Sugarcreek fire officials.
Captain Austin Weaver said firefighters were called to the 2000 block of Broad Run Dairy Road just before 4 p.m. He estimated the tree was about a foot and a half wide and fell roughly four feet onto the man’s legs.
Weaver said the victim was likely pinned for less than 20 minutes before crews freed him. The man was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, but his injuries appeared to be minor.
