United Way seeks volunteers for annual Day of Caring on Earth Day
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (March 30, 2026) — The United Way of Tuscarawas County is recruiting volunteers for its annual Day of Caring, scheduled for Earth Day, April 22.
Volunteer teams will head out from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to tackle spring cleanup projects at local historical sites and nonprofit organizations, according to Events Manager Hannah Hartman.
Last year, the Day of Caring attracted about 150 volunteers from 15 area businesses, and Hartman said she hopes to build on that success this year.
Cleanup projects are planned at several community locations, including Blessings in a Backpack, the Dennison Depot, the Norma Johnson Center, Schoenbrunn Village, the Salvation Army, and other sites throughout the county.
United Way President Sarah Spies said the additional help is vital for organizations that lack the staff or funding to handle large-scale maintenance projects on their own.
The United Way is hoping to finalize its volunteer list by Wednesday, April 1.
Anyone interested in participating can contact Hartman at manager@tuscunitedway.org or call 330-343-7772.
