The event
Historic Zoar Village, one of America’s most successful communal settlements, is partnering with Fort Laurens, Ohio’s only Revolutionary War fort, on a tour in celebration of America 250 on Saturday, June 6 and Saturday, June 13.
The guided tours will leave at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to take visitors along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail that connects both sites while exploring the rich history of the canal and its impact on both sites in terms of commerce, travel and daily life in the 19th century.
“America 250 is an opportunity to look more closely at the places and stories that shaped our nation, including right here in Tuscarawas County,” says Historic Zoar Village and Fort Laurens Site Director Tammi Shrum. “Through this special tour, visitors can connect with the history of the Ohio & Erie Canal, the Towpath Trail and these two remarkable historic sites in a new and memorable way.”
The tours are $12 per person and are special for 2026 as a part of the America 250 celebration. Visit www.historiczoarvillage.com or call 330-874-3011 for more information.
