Coshocton Man Dies After Memorial Day Crash North of Strasburg
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (May 26, 2026) – A Coshocton man has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred Memorial Day afternoon north of Strasburg, according to the State Highway Patrol.
New Philadelphia Post Lt. Bryan Sponaugle said 28-year-old Alex McPeak was traveling west on State Route 212 just before 3 p.m. when he attempted to turn left onto State Route 21 and failed to yield at a stop sign.
Authorities say McPeak’s Ford Escape SUV was struck by a northbound Chevy Silverado pickup truck that was towing a camper.
McPeak was flown to a hospital in Akron, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the pickup, identified as a 19-year-old woman from Doylestown, was not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles had passengers who were transported to a Canton hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say a crash reconstruction team returned to the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials are also working to determine whether McPeak stopped at the stop sign before entering the intersection.
