Man Found Dead on Bench Outside Dover Giant Eagle; No Foul Play Suspected
DOVER (WJER) (June 3, 2026) — Police in Dover are investigating after a man was found dead late this morning outside a Giant Eagle grocery store.
According to Dover Police Captain Seth Lurie, officers were in the area just before 10 a.m. handling a separate arrest when they were alerted to a man slumped over on a bench near the store on Union Avenue.
When officers checked on him, they discovered the man was deceased.
Police say the victim is a 73-year-old man who lived nearby.
Investigators do not believe there are any signs of foul play, and early indications suggest the man may have died of natural causes.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause of death, and the case has been turned over to the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, which will also handle notification of family members.
Police say the incident is not considered suspicious at this time.
