New restaurant latest beneficiary of Dover’s bed tax grants

The sign for the former Factory Street Pub & Grill is now gone as Tribute Bistro moves in.

DOVER – A new restaurant moving into an old downtown location is the latest beneficiary of the city’s bed tax grants.

Tribute Bistro is moving into the former Factory Street Pub & Grill in a 100-plus-year-old building on North Tuscarawas Avenue. The city is giving the new restaurant owners $4,100 for exterior improvements. Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the money comes from bed taxes on hotels.

He says the city over the last decade has distributed about five similar bed tax grants each year to local businesses. Recipients including Warther’s Museum and Elite Tire have used them for signage.

Gunnoe encourages businesses and other organizations to apply for the grants through City Hall.
