Library hosts property tax forum tonight

| June 25, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 25, 2026) – A community conversation about the future of property taxes in Ohio is coming to the Tuscarawas County Public Library this evening.

The library’s main New Philadelphia location will host “A Conversation About Property Tax: What’s at Stake if Property Taxes Are Eliminated” at 6 p.m.

Library Director Michelle Ramsell says the program was organized in response to growing discussion about a proposal from Ax Ohio Tax, which is seeking to place a constitutional amendment before voters that would eliminate property taxes statewide.

Tonight’s event will include a 15-member panel representing county offices, local governments, public safety, health care, veterans services, and other groups that all rely on property tax revenue. A representative from Ax Ohio Tax is also expected to take part.

The 90-minute program will include time for audience questions.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required because seating is limited. You can sign up at tusclibrary.org or by calling 330-364-4474.
