Midvale Standoff Suspect Arraigned on Multiple Charges

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (July 28, 2026) – Charges have been filed against the man accused in Saturday’s standoff at a Main Street home in Midvale.
Court records show 42-year-old Josh Shank was arraigned Monday in New Philadelphia Municipal Court on felony charges of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises and abduction, along with misdemeanor charges of child endangering, disorderly conduct, using weapons while intoxicated, and unlawful restraint.
Bond was set at $50,000. If released, Shank is barred from contacting protected persons, consuming alcohol, or possessing firearms. He is scheduled to return to court next Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.
