Former New Philadelphia Superintendent David Brand Passes Away
NORTH OLMSTED (WJER) (Aug. 6, 2026) — Former New Philadelphia School District Superintendent David Brand has died.
The Firelands Local School District announced Thursday that Brand passed away following what it described as “a courageous health battle.”
A GoFundMe page set up to assist Brand’s family says he had recently been diagnosed with cancer and died Wednesday evening.
Brand served as superintendent at New Philadelphia from 2015 to 2021.
After leaving New Philadelphia, he became superintendent of the North Olmsted City School District, serving from 2021 to 2024. Last year, Brand was named executive director of North Coast Therapy Associates, a Cleveland-area nonprofit that provides school-based and virtual pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
According to his work biography, Brand lived in North Olmsted with his wife, Amanda, and their two college-age daughters.
Online records indicate Brand was 46 years old.
