Community Leaders to Be Remembered at Celebrations of Life
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 13, 2026) – Two local community leaders who recently died after battles with cancer will be remembered at upcoming celebrations of life.
Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Nate Kamban died July 28 at age 39. TuscBDD Relations and Special Projects Director Kerri Silverthorn says his Celebration of Life will be held Monday, August 17, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Starlight School and Garden in New Philadelphia. Guests are invited to share stories and tributes, and performances by people served by TuscBDD are planned.
Former New Philadelphia Schools Superintendent David Brand died August 5 at age 46. His family will celebrate his life Saturday, September 5, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Kipton Sportsmen’s Club in Oberlin, Ohio, honoring his request for beer and barbecue chips.
