Late-Season Heat Advisory in Effect as Temperatures Climb Into the 90
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 2, 2026) – With temperatures pushing into the lower 90s today and Thursday, Tuscarawas County health and emergency officials are urging residents to take precautions.
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory through 8 p.m. Thursday, with heat index values expected to reach 102.
The county EMA recommends drinking plenty of water, limiting time outdoors, and taking breaks in the shade. Officials also suggest choosing lighter activities during the hottest part of the day.
Cooling centers are available at area libraries, the Dover YMCA, the Tuscarawas County Health Department, the Salvation Army, and Friends of the Homeless.
