FEDERAL EMERGENCY FOOD & SHELTER PROGRAM FUNDS NOW AVAILABLE

Under a federal appropriation from Congress to the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program (EFSP), Tuscarawas County has been allocated funding under Phase 42 and Phase 43 to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs in the county. Please be advised that you will need a separate application for each Phase you are applying for.  This award is based upon the county’s total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions. The National Board will allow LROs to charge eligible, properly documented expenditures once they have determined a start date.

The local Tuscarawas County EFSP board will meet to review applications and determine recipients of the funding. Per National guidelines, the local board is composed of representatives from the following:  American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Tuscarawas County Council for Church and Community (T4C), United Way of Tuscarawas County, Homeless or homeless advocate, FEMA (Government Official) and representatives from various religious communities.

Under terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have a UEI number and a valid e-mail address, 6) demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 7) have a voluntary board if they are a private voluntary organization.  Qualifying agencies are urged to apply.

Any public or private agency wishing to receive an application and be considered for funding must contact local board chairperson Leslie Booth to receive an application. Funding is not guaranteed, and agencies must be free of compliance issues from past phases in order to receive funds.

The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, September 24th by 3:30 pm.  Ten (10) copies of the application must be dropped off at the T4C office.  All applicants must be available to present their application in person that morning when the Local Board meets to determine recipients.
