ADAMHS Board Promotes 988 During Suicide Prevention Month

| September 10, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 10, 2026) – The ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties is highlighting suicide prevention efforts throughout September, with a focus on awareness, community connection and access to crisis support. Community Services Manager Leslie Korns says the board partners with Empower Tusc as part of that mission to reduce local suicides.

Korns says the board is also working with its Suicide Task Force on upcoming events, including efforts focused on local sportsmen and the importance of safe firearm storage.

Korns says the 988 support line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week — not only for people experiencing suicidal thoughts, but also for anyone who needs someone to talk to during a difficult or stressful time.
