Murder suspect’s case headed to grand jury

| October 1, 2026

NEW PHILADELPHIA – A New Philadelphia murder suspect’s case has been bound over to the Tuscarawas County Grand Jury.

PAUL KINLAW (TCSO)

Paul W. Kinlaw, 26, of Fayetteville, N.C., is accused of shooting and killing 42-year-old Christopher Damron in the latter’s New Philadelphia home on Sept. 20. Police say the two men had a physical altercation that led to the fatal shooting.

Kinlaw faces initial charges of murder and felonious assault. The Grand Jury will review his case for a potential indictment after Kinlaw this week waived a preliminary hearing.

Magistrate Christine Weimer continued his bail at $500,000. Kinlaw remains in the Tuscarawas County Jail.
