Local History Video Series Up for Statewide Travel Award
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Oct. 8, 2026) – A Tuscarawas County video project marking 250 years of local history is in the running for a major Ohio travel industry honor today.
Our County, Our Story: 250 Years in the Tuscarawas Valley — created by WJER’s Michele Spring for the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau — is a finalist for a RUBY Award from the Ohio Travel Association and Ohio Magazine.
Diane Lautenschleger with the Visitors Bureau says the series uses monthly themed videos to highlight different parts of the county’s heritage.
She says the clips have drawn about 800,000 views across social media, boosted by shares from the America 250‑Ohio Commission.
The RUBY Awards are being presented today during a luncheon in Wilmington.
