Uhrichsville Weighs Operating Levy After Renewal Defeat

| November 5, 2026

UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (Nov. 5, 2026) — Mayor Jim Zucal says the city may need to pursue an operating levy in May after its renewal levy failed Tuesday by 105 votes, ending the 2.8‑mill tax that brought in about $141,000 a year for city operations.

In a letter to City Council, Zucal urged members to act quickly on the city’s financial challenges and called for stronger, more active committees to address ongoing issues — including the city water park, which he described as a significant financial burden.

He told council it’s time to study placing an operating levy on the May ballot to stabilize funding for essential city services.
