Foundation hands out more than $665k in grants

| July 20, 2022

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (July 20, 2022) – The Tuscarawas County Community Foundation has announced its latest grant recipients.

Executive Director Scott Robinson says a dozen area non-profits and governmental entities are getting a share of the nearly $100,000 the foundation made available from its general fund this year.

“We were able to help the Village of Dennison with storm damage repairs, Trumpet in the Land with their emergency lighting tower repairs, and also the Tuscora Park Foundation – $10,000 for a new pickleball setup at Tuscora Park.”

Grants also went to the United Way of Tuscarawas County, Dover Soccer Association, Kent Tusc, the YMCA, Dover City Schools, Dennison Depot, Little Theatre, Camp Tuscazoar Foundation, and Tuscarawas County Literacy Coalition. Robinson says they received 30 funding requests totaling more than $400,000, so narrowing it down to just those 12 was no easy task.

“But our volunteers did a very good job and I think we did a pretty good job geographically of spending the money in grants around the county.”

The foundation also administers four donor-advised funds that collectively awarded more than $565,000 in grants this year. Around $125,000 of that went to the local Salvation Army, and Community Hospice received nearly $240,000.
