| February 22, 2024

GAHANNA (WJER) (Feb. 22, 2024) – Three police officers are receiving a heap of recognition for jumping into action and helping move Tusky Valley students to safety as November’s charter bus tragedy was unfolding near Columbus.

Gahanna Police officer Kaylea Pertz and sergeants Justin Sheasby and Kyle Parrish were presented with the first Medal of Honor awards in that department’s history during the city’s council meeting this week.

The three were on their way to training the morning of November 14th when they saw the explosion and smoke on I-70.

Commendations or resolutions from Congresswoman Joyce Beatty, State Rep. Beryl Piccolantonio, Gahanna Mayor Laurie Jadwin and city council were also read during the meeting.
