ADAMHS Board shares tips for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

| September 29, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Sept. 29, 2025) – The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties is offering advice on how to respond as part of its messaging for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month as it winds down.

Director Natalie Bollon says if you notice drastic changes in a friend or loved one’s sleeping patterns, productivity, or social behavior lasting for at least two weeks, it’s time to act.

She says that it can include having a heart-to-heart with that person or calling the statewide 9-8-8 suicide and crisis lifeline for support.

Bollon says there are also more people in the community that have gone through Question, Persuade, and Refer – or QPR – training who are able to intervene.

Bollon says you can contact the ADAMHS Board (330-364-6488) or Empower Tusc (330-440-7319) to learn more about QPR training, which only takes about an hour and a half with a handful of videos to watch.
