Amish buggy used in TV filming hit near Sugarcreek
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 25, 2026) – An Amish buggy used in filming for the Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries TV series was hit from behind Tuesday evening in the Sugarcreek area, according to state troopers.
Sergeant Clinton Armstrong says the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Golf Course Road as the buggy and horse were returning to the Farm at Walnut Creek animal park.
The crash caused major damage to the buggy, tearing off the left rear tire, axle, and part of the frame. The horse was not hurt.
The buggy driver, 19-year-old James Yoder, was flown to Akron General Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The car’s driver, 23-year-old Brandon Kiepper of Beach City, was not injured.
Armstrong says Kiepper reported being briefly distracted while reaching for something inside his vehicle. Charges are pending.
