Art on the Alley returning for fifth season

| May 13, 2022

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (May 13, 2022) – A rain-delayed celebration of everything art-related will take over the alleys downtown Sunday afternoon.

Art on the Alley returns for its fifth year from noon to 5 pm. Tuscarawas Arts Partnership Director Wilma Mullet says there will be live music, food trucks, and more than 90 arts and crafts vendors.

“The art that’s there, it’s just a small fraction of the talent that’s here in Tuscarawas County, which is really incredible, and some of the artwork you can actually see the artists work or be able to engage with it like at Art and Soul Gallery, Alley Cats, Tuscarawas Arts Cooperative.”

It’s happening along Ashwood Lane and First Drive with a kids’ area by the library on Fair Avenue featuring activities from STEAM Centers, the FANS Network and Tuscarawas County Public Library System.

“Along the footprint, you’ll see the project we did last year with Kathi Tustin, Jorge Antunes, Jason Hershberger, and the students from the Latino Mural Project so you have their panels up that are represented there. But also a new activity that’s happening and a new destination is Art Again Alley, and you can do an Art Again Alley scavenger hunt.”

The event was supposed to take place two Sundays ago but organizers decided to push it back because of the weather.
