Bar altercation leads to gunshots, potential attempted murder charge

| September 14, 2022

MINERAL CITY (WJER) (September 14, 2022) – An altercation at a Railroad Street bar early Monday morning could lead to attempted murder charges against a suspect who allegedly shot at a group of people, grazing one person.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff Lieutenant Adam Fisher says investigators aren’t sure what started the altercation inside the Drunken Uncle just after 1 a.m. Monday. He says a bartender called 911 to report he and several others witnessed four or five gunshots right outside the business.

“An individual did sustain a superficial injury, presumably from one of the bullets that was previously shot,” Fisher said.

Fisher says the suspect fired the gun at some people from a vehicle that was fleeing from the bar parking lot.

“Once this investigation is fully complete and individuals are taken into custody, I anticipate the charges to be something along the lines of attempted murder and felonious assault,” Fisher said.

Fisher says investigators have conducted interviews and have identified a couple of suspects. However, he is not providing names, and no one was in custody as of Wednesday morning.
