Body discovered after vehicle fire near Tappan Lake Marina
SCIO (WJER) (Aug. 4, 2023) – Authorities are trying to identify the person whose body was found inside a burning car at Tappan Lake Park Thursday night.
Firefighters made the discovery after extinguishing the blaze near a handicapped fishing pier just East of the marina that a passerby reported just before 10:30 pm. The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District owns the property and is overseeing the investigation, which spokeswoman Adria Bergeron says is still in the early stages.
“The body was taken to the coroner’s office, and an investigation will continue to see a cause of death and any other circumstances surrounding the incident.”
No other details were immediately available, and investigators aren’t disclosing the make and model of the vehicle.
