Body discovered along rail tracks in Carroll County under investigation

CARROLLTON (WJER) (Oct. 3, 2025) – Authorities are trying to determine how a male turned up dead alongside a set of railroad tracks in Carroll County this week.
Carroll County Sheriff’s officials say the victim was not struck by a train and they are not giving out his age or name at this time, pending notification of family.
Crews with the Wheeling Lake Erie Railway discovered the body in a water-filled ditch about 300 feet north of crossing gates at Waynesburg Road / State Route 171 and reported it Wednesday afternoon.
The Cuyahoga Medical Examiner’s office is performing the autopsy.
