Buckeye House scheduled for auction on Tuesday

(Buckeye Career Center)

NEW PHILADELPHIA – Buckeye Career Center students are finished building their latest house, and it’s up for auction on Tuesday, May 13.

The 2025 Buckeye House is a custom-built brick ranch home at the end of a cul-de-sac at 560 Corral Drive NE, a block away from the vocational school in New Philadelphia.

Buckeye students in Construction Technology, Energy Operations, Masonry, Landscaping, HVAC-R, and Electrical Systems Technology had a role in building the house. Buckeye officials say the construction project provides real-world training for students hoping to enter the construction field.

“The Buckeye House gives on-the-job experience for our students through the entire building process,” said Assistant Principal Trent Edie. “It’s really a great learning sample for our students.”

Buckeye Marketing Coordinator Shyanne Carroll says they usually get a handful of serious bidders and a crowd of people to watch at the Buckeye House auctions. Buckeye students have now built about 40 of them.

“A lot of those houses in that neighborhood are Buckeye student-built homes,” Carroll said. “It’s very common to say, ‘I live in a Buckeye House,’ over in that neighborhood, and we’re proud of that. That’s something our students can be proud of for years to come.”
