Canton teen responsible for last year’s car thefts in Dover

| June 19, 2024

DOVER (WJER) (June 19, 2024) – A 17-year-old from Canton was responsible for several vehicle thefts in Dover last year. City Safety Director Bob Everett in an update to City Council Monday said police wrapped up the case in April when the teen pleaded guilty to stealing seven vehicles.

Dover police say they recovered all but one of the vehicles. The 17-year-old male was arrested in Canton in December after police there stopped a Ford F-150 that had recently been reported stolen from Dover. The juvenile fled on foot.

Police eventually found him in a nearby garage with a loaded firearm. Police say that was also stolen from Dover.

The case was prosecuted through the juvenile court system.
