Claymont to Build New Playground as Middle School Expands for Incoming Grades
DENNISON (WTUZ) (June 9, 2026) – Fourth and fifth graders moving to Claymont Middle School this fall will be welcomed by some new playground equipment.
The younger students are joining sixth and seventh graders as the building at North Main and East 6th Street in Uhrichsville as part of a district realignment.
Superintendent Brian Rentsch says the new playground equipment will cost around $58,000.
Rentsch says there will be a play structure and a swing set on opposite sides of the sidewalk in front of the school. He suggested adding turf around playgrounds to reduce muddy areas and mulching costs.
Claymont is closing its intermediate building citing declining enrollment and increasing costs. That means fourth and fifth grade will move to the middle school, and eighth-graders are moving to the high school.
