Cold temporarily grips region following weekend snow
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 15, 2025) – The cold and snow led to an anxious weekend at times for some around the area.
ODOT District 11 had about 90 salt trucks out in eastern Ohio Saturday. Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell says the 911 center received 31 weather-related crash calls that day, with at least four involving injuries.
State Highway Patrol New Philadelphia post Sgt. Jennifer Makris says even though conditions have improved, drivers still need to watch out for black ice and drifting snow.
Most area school districts also canceled classes today.
The extreme cold won’t last long though as we could see the mid-40s and lower 50s within a few days.
