Community Holds Candlelight Vigil for Dover Freshman
DOVER (WJER) (Sept. 16, 2026) — A grieving Dover community gathered Tuesday night to remember freshman Nathan Beachy, whose unexpected passing left classmates and families reeling.
Hundreds circled the pond at Dover City Park for a candlelight vigil, joining in prayer and a quiet singing of Kumbaya — the traditional spiritual meaning “Come by here, my Lord.”
The Dover School District canceled sporting events Tuesday.
District officials say counselors are available for students who need support. They are also reminding families that the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available around the clock.
A GoFundMe created to support Nathan’s family has already surpassed its $30,000 goal, climbing past $33,000 as of Wednesday morning.
