Conotton Valley senior dies in crash, another student critically injured

| February 17, 2022

SHERRODSVILLE (WJER) (Feb 17, 2022) – The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving two popular Conotton Valley High School senior student-athletes.

Messages of support have been flooding social media for the families of Braylen Novak, who was killed in the crash, and Garson Imes, who was hospitalized in critical condition.

The single-car crash happened on state Route 212 sometime Wednesday afternoon near the high school.

Novak was a key member of the football and baseball teams. Imes has excelled at football and basketball.

Conotton Valley Superintendent Todd Herman says the district sent out an all-call to families Wednesday night informing them that the high school and Buckeye Career Center would have counselors available to students today.

“It’s a difficult part of life, and both Buckeye Career Center and Conotton Valley – Union Local Schools just wanted to do everything we could do to help our kids through these difficult times,” he said.

Conotton Valley has canceled all after-school events for today and Friday.

We expect to have more information from sheriff’s officials today about this tragic incident.
