Coroner IDs body found in New Philadelphia

| September 10, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA – The Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office has identified the body found in a fenced lot on Maple Avenue Northwest in New Philadelphia on Sunday as 36-year-old Bryant Sullivan of Dennison.

The cause and manner of death are still pending, but investigator Rachel Fetty says they do not suspect foul play.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.

Fetty says Sullivan had likely been dead for almost a month, based on the last time he spoke with family members. He was not a reported missing person.

New Philadelphia Police Chief Tessa Pohovey said a caller reported finding the body around 4:45 p.m. Sunday in a high brush area back off the road behind Walmart and Aldi.
