UHRICHSVILLE (WJER) (July 15, 2024) – The Claymont City School District is making counselors available to students Tuesday following the death of a 15-year-old student.

Grant Haney of Uhrichsville died on July 8, according to an obituary shared by R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home. It described him as courageous and resilient in facing cystic fibrosis, and as someone who found happiness in the great outdoors and touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Claymont Principal Amy Conn says counselors and the facility dog will be available at Claymont High School Tuesday, July 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

She says drop-ins are welcome, but parents or students can fill out a form online to select a time. That form is accessible though the Claymont Schools Facebook page.

Online videos show crowds of people carrying balloons through the streets near the Uhrichsville Water Park on July 11 to celebrate Grant’s life. Services took place on Friday. The family is asking for memorial contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties for Bullying Prevention Efforts in Tuscarawas County.
