County EMA opening cooling centers with heat advisory in effect
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 17, 2024) – The Tuscarawas County Emergency Management Agency is helping offer relief from the soaring temperatures this week.
Director Jennifer James says they are partnering with several sites in the area that are giving residents somewhere to spend time by serving as cooling centers during normal business hours.
James says these are for people who don’t have power or air conditioning, or just need somewhere to escape the heat.
The Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Tuscarawas County Public Library system locations, and some other sites are participating.
