Crash closes 250, sends trash truck driver to the hospital

| October 29, 2025

DUNDEE – A crash involving a semi and a trash truck closed state Route 250 north of Strasburg for about an hour and a half and sent one person to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Clinton Armstrong says around 2 p.m. a westbound trash truck on state Route 250 near the state Route 93 intersection hit the back of a semi that had slowed down for a car that was turning off the road.

The trash truck driver was trapped in the vehicle. He was eventually taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the commercial vehicle had minor injuries that were treated on scene.

The trash truck was immobilized in the middle of 250, leading to the road closure. The semi cab was drivable, but the trailer was damaged and had to be towed.

Sgt. Armstrong said they are continuing interviews but he believes the trash truck driver will be cited for driving too close behind the semi.
