Decomposed remains identified through DNA testing

| December 1, 2023

DNA testing has revealed that the decomposed remains found along North Orchard Road in Sandy Township on Nov. 4 belonged to 27-year-old Katie Ann Fuller of Stark County.

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 1, 2023) – The family of a missing Stark County woman now has some closure. DNA testing has confirmed that the decomposed remains discovered along North Orchard Road in Sandy Township on November 4th belonged to 27-year-old Katie Ann Fuller.

The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement earlier this afternoon and extended condolences to Fuller’s family, who last had contact with her on September 9th.

An exact cause of death won’t be known until forensic testing and toxicology results come back. However, investigators say there were no signs of trauma and that Fuller had a history of substance use. They’re working with authorities in Stark County to piece together what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward. Detective Captain Adam Fisher is leading the probe and can be reached through the sheriff’s office.
