Delays possible on SR 39 for post-construction work

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 26, 2024)  – The Ohio Department of Transportation is letting drivers know that state Route 39 between Dover and Sugarcreek is open again despite some ongoing work there today.

That stretch opened again Friday after a 47-day closure as part of a $1.2 million project to improve sight distance for drivers near the Kimble facility entrance.

ODOT District 11 spokesperson Lauren Borell says the contractor is completing remaining work today.

“That includes some signage and seeding work and they will have flaggers on site to maintain traffic in both directions,” she said. “You may see some delays going through there. However, this is just for one day, weather permitting, but the road will remain open.”

The opening of the roadway was delayed by just a couple days last week because of recent weather.
