NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 18, 2024) – The suspect in a voyeurism and child pornography case out of Dennison is heading to prison.

Danny Quillin, 45, will spend the next 4 to 6 years behind bars for secretly recording minors in a state of undress with a cell phone he hid inside a bathroom. Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Ernest handed down the jointly recommended punishment earlier today/on Tuesday and ordered Quillen to begin serving it immediately.

“Nobody should ever have their privacy violated in this way. It is completely uncalled for. There is no possible explanation that anyone could ever come up with that in any way would make any sense of what had taken place.”

Quillen was indicted on 10 counts that he ultimately pleaded guilty to pandering obscenity and illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material. He sat hunched over at the defense table shaking as one of the victims described struggling with anxiety, depression, and PTSD:

“I will suffer from the impact of Mr. Quillen’s actions for the rest of my life: from not being able to use public bathrooms, not plugging anything in in my bathroom at my house, scouring my house every time someone leaves, always looking over my shoulder everywhere I go…

“My life will never be the same as it was before and nothing will ever be able to fix that. So I ask while you make your determination for Mr. Quillen’s sentencing today. Think about all of this. About how his victims have and will serve a sentence from him for the rest of their lives at no fault of their own – just for trying to take a shower.”

Quillen’s sentence will be followed by a mandatory five years of post-release control and includes a 25-year Tier 2 sex offender designation with in-person verification every 180 days.
