Dennison Rotary taking signups for veterans banner display

| April 18, 2022

DENNISON (WJER) (April 13, 2022) – Banners featuring the names and photos of military veterans will be going up in the Twin Cities next month.

The Dennison Rotary Club members will be placing them along the main thoroughfares in Dennison and Uhrichsville ahead of Memorial Day. Nick Pelegreen is overseeing the effort known as the Hometown Hero Veteran Banner Project. He says it’s $150 to order a banner recognizing any current or former service member.

“It can be anybody. It doesn’t have to necessarily be a person from the Twin City area if the family is from the area. Or if the person was from the Twin City area but the family lives elsewhere, it doesn’t really matter. We’re just looking to get as much appreciation for our veterans as possible.”

You can find the order form on the Dennison Rotary Club’s Facebook page. Pelegreen says they’re due by May 1st if you want your banner included with the ones members will be putting up toward the end of the month, although they may continue taking orders and adding to the display.

“At least the first batch, we’re asking for the information by May 1st. That way we can get the banners made and put up before Memorial Day, and then the banners will remain out until Veterans Day. Once Veteran’s Day is up, we’ll go around and get them collected again.”

There’s a $60 renewal fee if you order a banner now and participate again next summer. Pelegreen says any banners not renewed will be gifted to the people who purchased them.
