Deputies: Crime Spree Began Hours After Hospital Release
CADIZ (WJER) (Sept. 4, 2026) – We’re learning more about the suspect accused in a multi-county crime spree that began in Tuscarawas County early Monday morning and ended hours later with an arrest near Pittsburgh.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Blake Eugene Judy, of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, is accused of break-ins, stealing a van, and robbing the Circle K in Scio at gunpoint early Monday.
Investigators say Judy had been taken to Twin City Hospital after seeking medical help the day before. After his release, he allegedly broke into a nearby home and later the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home, where authorities say he stole clothing and a Ford Transit van.
Harrison County deputies say Judy then drove to Scio and robbed the convenience store cashier, taking money, drinks, and cigarettes before leaving the area.
The stolen van was later found in Imperial, Pennsylvania, with assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and North Fayette Police. Judy was arrested without incident.
Detectives from Harrison and Tuscarawas counties recovered the vehicle and stolen property. Judy remains jailed in Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition, and is expected to face several felony charges.
