Deputies get back-to-back calls about grandchildren acting out against grandparents
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (April 28, 2026) – Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two separate incidents involving grandchildren and their grandparents Monday afternoon.
Just before 12:30, deputies say a child at a Wainwright home got angry and threw two remote controllers at grandparents, causing minor injuries. The child was later taken into custody by juvenile probation.
About 15 minutes later, a Port Washington woman reported her 22-year-old grandson grabbed her, while her 19-year-old granddaughter spit on her. Deputies say the adult grandchildren were the primary aggressors and both were jailed on domestic violence and assault charges.
